Free Comedy Show Tickets

Ahhhhh… you’re hilarious, Jason Riley.
Did you know that JR performed nationally with Musical comedy all-stars, Brinnon & Marks? Don’t recall him ever getting a punchline though he’s certainly been the butt of many jokes. “When backing up comedians, it’s important to shred as hard and loud as possible. Funny people really respect heavy, high volume, pyrotechnics with a lot those excruciating faces. Post show, it was strangely tender with lots of cuddling” says Riley.

We’re giving away 4 passes to Stanford’s & Sons Comedy Club at the Legends, KCKS for this Sat. 11/13/10, 9:45 pm for comedian, Sean Kent.

Drop us a note here at the dotcom (perhaps post an irreverent comment) for a chance to win.

That’s how we roll. Huge thanks to website guru Andrew Riley for creating our new digital habitat.

InnerThump Records is a buzz with finalizing our first children’s record, Funky Folk. Can’t wait for everyone to see the original artwork and hear fresh takes on some familiar, family-friendly material. Stay tuned for the upcoming release info.

Thanks for visiting, come back anytime. We’re 24/7.

Please support live music! Hope to see you soon.

Riley at Home in Little Dublin

Odowd’s Little Dublin, the premier KC Irish pub, has become the wednesday night home for nylon string jams. As the Cotton Club was to Duke Ellington so is Odowd’s to Riley and percussionist, Mark Elting, the one safe place where players and patrons can explore ‘the wilds’ of possibility. The duo frequently brings the house down via plastic guitar strings, some bongos (or whatever those are) and fresh arrangements of rock, folk, jazz and classical repertoire.
Catch the duo while they’re running the fall season every Wed. night. Shows start @ 8pm, lest the whiskey be flowing. Then… we’ll see you around 830ish.

Check out this virally pleasing cover courtesy of the YOUTUBE! “May you be in heaven a half hour before the devil knows your dead.”

How to end a rock song – Lesson 1 (Happy Ending)

While there are a few standardized methods of ending a piece of rock music, today we’ll present one of the more popular resolutions. It’s slightly exaggerated here so you can really see the nuance. Here are the important points to remember…
1) Agree as a group that it’s time to end.
2) Try to play a long penultimate chord together.
3) Employ as much tremolo picking and pick slides as possible.
4) Try to use the highest note available and a lot of it.

Don’t forget your goal, you’ll need to stop playing at some point. All together now, a short final chordal stab in unison. Call in a little fog, remember there are probably groupies waiting for you and you’re almost guaranteed a successful and happy ending.

Festival invests in Pig Farmer

Pig Farmer performed Sunday, August 22, 3pm at the Trail’s West Festival in historic, St. Joseph, MO.

A roots music cooperative, Pig Farmer has performed together for over a decade. This internationally acclaimed Rockabilly ensemble epitomizes pure Midwestern flavor with all it’s down home feel. Pig Farmer’s fourth Nashville recorded album, “Mountain Oysters” has drawn attention from every corner of the globe and has been featured on radio programs throughout the US, Europe and Australia. The band is currently finishing the next CD in their swine themed discography, “Makin’ Bacon” to be released in January 2011. Pig Farmer’s blend of original and stylized cover songs can be described as a fusion of twisted country with a touch of rock (Americana, Alternative Country).

St. Joe Welcomes KC Chiefs With Reggae and Rock

Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp starts in St. Joseph on July 30! Come see us at the Red Rally on opening day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free food to the first 500 in attendance courtesy of Hy-Vee, live music from ‘you know who’, Chiefs cheerleaders, a balloon artist, a banner contest and a lot of fun.

For more information on the Chiefs camp, click on the logo above. For more information on the Red Rally, click here.

Under The Influence and Soca Jukebox will have the scoreboard’s view of this “Red Rally”. Who else are you gonna call when you need some genuine pep? UTI @ 11am followed by Soca around 12:30pm. If unavailable, I would propose Tarkio High School circa ’89 for an up tempo ‘smoke on the water’ or MWSC Basketball Pep Band ’91 for referee approved ‘night court theme’ and/or ‘the peoples court’. Have bongos, will travel.
